Fair enough, but if he wanted to leave, he would have left.
Valuations always start off high, they aren't going to say 35m only for clubs to offer 5-10m lower, they'll start higher to get the price that's probably fair.
Or they'll get fucked like we did.

I'm not saying he did stay out of love. We all know money is the bottom line. But he stayed. Regardless of pay or bonus he wanted to leave but stayed.
I'm not making him out to be a saint... Or that people should feel sorry for him. I just feel that under the circumstances Leicester are being a bit arsey at valuing him at £50m.
He's just about worth half that.

didn't he also get quite a lumpy pay rise and extended contract too? It's not like he stayed out of the goodness of his heart, he was well rewarded for doing so.

Spot on. Which is why I do feel its unfair of them to do it as he could've gone last season but stayed for another year to see what they could achieve as Champions and in the CL.
I am not saying he's hard done by but I do feel the valuation, considering the season just gone, is way, way over the top.

Going by the 15/16 season, he was a £50million player, it's just the rest of his career either side of that season that makes it a bit of an ask.
You gotta haggle though. He's worth more than a gourd.

Apparently Mahrez is pissed off at what Leicester want. And to be fair I make him right.
Bloke was plucked from relative obscurity by Leicester and two years later he, and them, have the season's of their lives and Leicester win the league.
Nobody saw it coming nor expected it.
He showed a bit of loyalty to them and stayed last season and he, and them, had a more average and expected season.
So, as good as he is and can be, let's get it right, he's probably had one world class season in his whole career in the top level.
So how the fuck do Leicester rate him at £50m??
You can't say its potential as he is 27. And you can't say it's experience as he has only ever one major trophy; which now clearly looks like footballs biggest ever one off.
They are taking the piss. But, then again, he is their asset and they can ask what they want. Even though unfairly on him. I could see it if this was after last season and they could tout him as a league winner and one of the worlds most in form players.
But last season proved, whilst he is good, he isn't great and is nowhere near the worlds top players.
Stupid valuation.

The impression was always that he had some agreement with Leicester that he would be allowed to go after playing one more season.
Played like he regretted not jumping out like Kante for most of the season.

He was quoted on sky before one of the games towards the end of the season saying he wants to play champions league and its his choice whether he stays or not next year
Dont think any of the prem champs league sides will pay up for him
